Indian Borage Tea

The use of Indian Borage is varied in Asian countries. But it’s especially useful for scratchy, sore throats, sneezing and runny noses, as well as coughing with phlegm. Drinking this tea will alleviate the symptoms and also serves as a refreshing drink on hot days with the cooling effect of rock sugar.

Indian Borage Tea

A simple soothing remedy for Cough, Colds, and Sore Throats.

Equipment

  • 1 small pot

Ingredients

  • 20 leaves Indian Borage
  • 2 large pieces Rock Sugar

Instructions

  • Gather between 15-20 leaves of Indian Borage. Wash and discard brown parts.
  • Boil a pot of water and add Indian Borage leaves to it. Once it has begun to boil, turn down the heat to simmer for 15 minutes.
  • After 15 minutes, add 2-3 blocks of rock sugar.
  • Stir and taste. It should have a minty flavor with sweetness.
  • Serve hot or cold as liked.

Notes

  • Soothing for cough and colds, it can alleviate coughing.
  • The rock sugar adds a cooling element so it is also useful for cooling the body for heatiness. 
  • It can be kept in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • For a thicker syrup, use more leaves and more sugar with less water. Add hot water as needed when making the drink.
